I'd like to talk about my idea of a perfect vacation. As I live in Spain, Inormally like to visit cities when I go on vacation, to soak up some differenttypes of culture. Of course, there is plenty of culture here on this lovelylittle piece of paradise, but every now and again I need to leave and visit abusy bustling city. My perfect vacation would probably lead me to New York.

I have visited New York once and I can't wait to return, the noise, thelights and the non-stop energy of the city makes it a great place to go. I wouldvisit the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and The Met Museum to see both traditionaland modern art, before planning my way through the city. Visiting Central Park,5th Avenue to window shop, Times Square, The Rockefeller Centre and even theStatue of Liberty. There are other places I would like to visit, which includethe Natural History Museum, the sex and the city tour and to see a Broadwayshow. I would also like to see the restaurant close to Times Square that isdecorated like a 1950's diner, where the waiters and waitresses get up on thetables to sing. I have heard they are all amazing and the experience is one thatyou will never forget.

When I visit again, I will take my husband as he has never been before. hereally enjoys travelling and seeing new places, he enjoys looking at famousarchitecture, so I know that he will want to visit the Empire State building andground zero, where the twin towers used to be. We could also sample the foodwhilst in the city, with breakfast in art deco diners, lunch from small cafes inthe park and dinner in a different place every night.

This would be my idea of a perfect vacation because it allows us to have adifferent lifestyle for a week, which is a refreshing change from the quiet, butstunning place we live in now. I like to feel inspired from my vacations,visiting places that give me ideas and make me feel energised. New York is suchan amazing city that you can feel the buzz around you of people living theirlives. Visiting a busy city like this, makes a vacation feel exciting and fullof energy, which is ideal in my perspective.

Gosh, this topic is hard for me, I don’t really go to many sporting events,and it isn’t especially an interest of mine. However, I can think of one whichenticed me to go and watch, I’ll tell you as much as I can about the event, howoften it takes places and why it was, to me at least, interesting!

The sporting event I went to was Le Tour de France – except it wasn’t! Forone year only the opening stages took place near to where I live in SouthYorkshire, but more of that later.

The event is a world famous cycling race. It takes place every year, in aseries of stages which are mainly in France, but it does occasionally passthrough other countries. I think it started around 1903 and has taken place eachyear since then – apart from during the two world wars when obviously it wassuspended. The cyclists are professional riders, and the tour is gruelling. Tobe honest, I get very confused about how it is all timed and organised, but I doknow that for each stage, the rider who has completed it in the fastest timegets to wear a yellow jersey for the next stage of the tour.

The race has fallen foul of cheating over the years, famously LanceArmstrong who won it some seven times I think was later banned for drug taking.However, more recently cycling has cleaned up its act and gained in popularity.Although I’ve never previously been interested in cycling, some of my friendsare, and with such a world famous event happening on my doorstep I wouldn’t havewanted to miss out.

I was really proud to be one of the supporters on what was a once in alifetime opportunity to see The Tour de France passing through practically on mydoorstep (I live in Sheffield).

The thing that my friend has done but I have not done is playing games inthe internet cafe.

Internet cafe in China has a different image from that abroad. It isregarded as a rotten place by most middle-aged people. They believe that onlythose who frequently fail their subject or are unemployed would go there. It isalways suffused with smoke from cigarettes and everybody there is addicted togames. If you go in, you will soon become like them. Having been surrounded bythis idea since I was a little child, I have never been into internet cafe eventhough there are many near my school.
